Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Testing

What is Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Testing?

Emotional intelligence focuses on the capacity to identify, use, understand, and manage emotions.

Our EQ screener measures how well your child performs tasks and solves emotional problems. There are 4 components of Emotional Intelligence testing.

  1. Perceiving emotions: The ability to identify emotions
  2. Facilitating thoughts: Use of emotions to foster ideas
  3. Understanding emotions: Knowledge about emotions
  4. Managing emotions: Capacity for emotion regulation

(Four-Branch model of EQ; Mayer, Salovey & Caruso)

Why is Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Testing important to child/adolescent development?

Emotional intelligence may act as a protective factor that decreases a child's likelihood of engaging in maladaptive behaviours and school problems. Research indicates that children with higher EQ scores received higher teacher ratings of social and emotional competencies
